The Sociedad Columbista Panamericana produced this stamp to honor Christopher Coumbus and his discovery of the New World. The stamp was meant to be issued by the Ecuadoran government, but for some reason the deal was canceled. Created in 1936, they were later overprinted 1939 and released for sale as collectibles to the philatelic market. Front and center is a large airplane, but one of Columbus's ships is pictured in the lower right corner. You'll love this retro airplane t-shirt.
