Mihai Eminescu is Romania's most influential poet. One of his best-known tales is the story of Prince Charming, the Tear-Begotten. The Prince has a most unusual origin story: his young mother the empress was impregnated by a tear from a statue of the Virgin Mary. Nine months later she bore a son as white as milk and fairhaired as moonlight. She named him Charming and he grew up to go on many adventures. This would seem to be Prince Charming's epic battle with the forest hag.
