This 1918 publication is one of the earliest on our site. The Liberator was intensely political, but included art, poetry and fiction in addition to its first-rate international reporting. This premiere issue features John Reed's Story of the Bolsheviki Revolution. Since the Bolshevik on the cover is sowing hearts, I think the editors made their feelings on the topic clear. The cover illustration is by Hugo Gellert, a noted Hungarian radical artist.
