Russia - 1913 - Tsar Nicholas Romanov and his family only had four years of life left when this stamp was issued. Their story is tragic in history, but for all his mistakes and denial Nicholas seemed to be a good man. The Russian Orthodox Church certainly thinks so, since he and is entire family were made saints! Their remains are now interred in the Peter and Paul Fortress in St Petersburg, along with many other tsars and tsarinas. It's an interesting place to visit.
