This carnivorous, aquatic reptile is often cited as a possible explanation for the Loch Ness Monster and other lake monsters around the world, the theory being that a small breeding population has survived the intervening millions of years from this guy's heyday in the Mesozoic. It sounds unlikely to me, but what do I know? I could be talked into cropping the image so that all it shows is the head and neck emerging from the water.
