Niagara Railway T-Shirt - The Niagara Railway Suspension Bridge was built in 1848 to connect Niagara Falls, Ontario and Niagara Falls, New York. The bridge was an important border crossing, and was used by three train lines, all of which needed a different guage track. This made the bridge one of the few examples of a triple guage track. Two of the tracks were overlapped, the third being made from one track of each of the other two. The upper deck of the bridge carried trains, while the lower deck carried pedestrians and carriages, and was a popular vantage from which to watch daredevils who crossed the gorge on tightropes. This view of the bridge is from the American side, and you can see the Horseshoe Falls and Bridal Veil Falls in the background. It was replaced in 1897 by the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge, but before that, it was part of the Underground Railroad, helping escaped slaves cross into Canada. The train enthusiast in your life will appreciate this historic train t-shirt!
