Steam Locomotive T-Shirt - The first rail line opened in Nicaragua in 1882, but the idea never caught on. There were plans to connect the Pacific coast to the Caribbean coast in the early 1900s, but after 10 miles, construction was abandoned and never resumed. For a few decades there was a private line, used mainly to transport lumber and bananas. In 1993, the president ordered all rail lines demolished and sold for scrap. The last line was decommissioned in 2001, and since then there have been no trains at all in Nicaragua. This stamp commemorates a lost era. The train enthusiast in your life will appreciate this historic train t-shirt!
