Finland - 1954 - The lion balanced on the sword is the symbol of Finland.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. This stamp commemorates the 75th anniversary of the 13th amendment to the Constitution, and features Abraham Lincoln symbolically emancipating a slave.

Poland - 1921 - The Polish Eagle is one of our most popular images, and I’m sure you can see why.

France - 1955 - Marianne symbolizes the "Triumph of the Republic" and has been depicted many different ways in the history of France. I gather that she is somewhat equivalent to Uncle Sam here in the states.

Finland - 1917 - This is the arms of Finland on one of the first stamps of the new republic. Notice the lion is balancing on a sword, an apt geographical allusion perhaps? This is a beautiful t-shirt for anyone, Finn or not.

Poland - 1919 - Poland's National Emblem, the Eagle.

USA - 1957. Old Glory. This flag dates from before the addition of Alaska and Hawaii as states.

USA - 1959. This flag has only 49 stars. Can you name which state is missing?

This is a special stamp used only to ship airmail packages to US troops stationed overseas, such as those in Viet Nam. It was not valid for domestic mail. 

Albacete Arms T-Shirt - Albacete is a municipality in southeastern Spain known for the production of fine daggers, knives and scissors. I have been unable to find out what the three towers and the bat symbolize, but they sure do look cool. Make up your own personal meaning when you wear this Albacete coat of arms t-shirt.

Albanian Eagle T-Shirt - The double-headed eagle is an old Byzantine symbol, resurrected by the Russians when Ivan III married a Byzantine pirincess. Today this striking image appears on Albania's flag, as well as its coat of arms. This version, with the eagle clutching what appear to be lightning bolts, dates from a time when the country was known as the Principality of Albania, and was headed by a short-lived monarchy from 1914 to 1925 when the monarchy was abolished and Albania was declared a Republic. You'll turn plenty of heads in this bold Albanian Eagle T-Shirt.

France - 1946 - Long disputed between France and Germany. It was in this region that Gutenberg perfected his movable type.

Altdorf Arms T-Shirt - Altdorf is the capital of the Swiss canton of Uri. The coat of arms of this city features a fearsome looking bird, probably an eagle or a raven. This stamp reads "Pro Juventute" which designates it as a fundraiser for a children's charity. The apple and arrows represent Swiss folk hero William Tell. There is a statue in his honor in Altdorf. Antarctic Territory Badge T-Shirt - This is the badge of Australia's Mawson Antarctic research station. Mawson was established in 1954 and is the oldest  continuously inhabited Antarctic station south of the Antarctic Circle. Would you like to spend some time there? In January (during southern hemisphere summer) it averages a high of a balmy 36º F. In August the average high is about 4º F. Sounds like fun! Antarctica is the only continent on Earth without a native or permanent population, which could make it a lawless wasteland. The Antarctic Treaty is an international agreement which reserves Antarctica for scientific research and bans military activity there. The researchers stationed there are subject to the laws of their home countries, thus preventing anarchy. Whew!

Arms of Franceso Sans T-Shirt - This airmail stamp dates from the Italian occupation of the Dodecanese Islands. The Dodecanese Islands (literally 12 islands) are a group of 162 islands off the coast of Turkey in the Aegean Sea. The best known is Rhodes. The Dodecanese were ruled by the Ottoman Empire for many years until the Italian-Turkish War over Libya in 1912 when they fell under control of Italy. Following World War II they formally united with Greece, though in some spheres they retain independent status. The wing coat of arms is that of Francesco Sans, a governor of the Kos island in the 1500s. You'll love this striking coat of arms t-shirt.

Baden-Württemberg Lion T-Shirt - Baden-Württemberg is one of Germany's states, located in the southwest along the Swiss border. This seal is from the 1955 Agricultural Exhibition in Stuttgart, the state capital. I know that when I think of agriculture I always think of lions. You'll love this German heraldry t-shirt.

Barbados Colony Badge T-Shirt - This fanciful design was the Colony Badge of Barbados. The latin inscription  Et penitus toto regnantes orbe Britannos means "And the Britons ruling throughout." That would be King George VI riding in his awesome seashell chariot. I'm not sure what to call the creatures that are pulling him. Seahorses? Mer-horses? Whatever they are, they make an impression. Bayern T-Shirt - Bayern, more generally known as Bavaria, is a German state along the southeastern border with Austria. The capital is Munich (or München). It is perhaps best known as the Alpine home of Mad King Ludwig's famous fairy tale castle Neuschwanstein and BMW. For centuries the Kingdom of Bavaria was ruled by the monarchy, and even after King Ludwig II signed over control of the military in 1918 the royal family didn't renounce their throne. USA - 1968. This flag was used in the Battle of Bennington, August 16, 1777, by Vermont militia. It was the first to lead American armed forces on land. Available with or without the postal information.

Bolivia - 1941 - Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Ingavi during the Peru-Bolivian War.

Russia - 1918 - The chains originally being severed were those of the slavery of the Tsars, but now it could be seen as the chains of the Soviets.

The Brown Kiwi is native to New Zealand's North Island and is the most common of the kiwi varieties. These flightless birds are about the same size as chickens, but their eggs are 6 times as big as chicken eggs. Unlike most birds Kiwi don't have hollow bones, and in fact have marrow. The Māori use kiwi feathers to make ceremonial cloaks, but you might find it easier to simply buy one of our shirts.

Chile - 1971 - Commemorating the tenth anniversary of the Antarctic Treaty.

The Cláirseach, or Gaelic harp has long been a symbol of the Emerald Isle. It even appears in the Irish coat of arms. No wonder it was chosen for this stamp promoting An Tóstal, a celebration of all things Irish. Wear this on St Patrick's day as you hoist a Harp Lager or two.

Congo Coat of Arms T-Shirt - Through its history Congo has gone by many names:  Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Congo-Léopoldville, Congo-Kinshasa, and Zaire. These days it is generally known as DR Congo to distinguish it from its neighbor, Republic of the Congo.  The motto "Justice Paix Travail" translates as "Justice, Peace, Work." This was the coat of arms for the Democratic Republic of the Congo from 1964 - 1997. The current coat of arms is similar to this, but the leopard head is flanked by the elephant tusk and one spear. The branch and second spear are gone, but the motto is the same. You'll look fierce in this Congo t-shirt.

France - 1946 - The fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, and birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Danish Flag T-Shirt - Denmark's flag, called the Dannebrog, is the oldest flag in the world still in use by an independent nation. This bright, bold stamp commemorates the 750th anniversary of the Dannebrog falling from heaven. The story goes that things were not going well for the Danes in the 1219 Battle of Lyndanisse in modern-day Tallinn, Estonia. The Danes were on the verge of retreating when the banner fell from the sky and was caught by King Valdemar II before it could touch the ground. 1943 - USA. This is from a series of stamps issued during WWII to remind people of the countries overrun by the Axis powers.

1946 - Denmark. These three lions are the state seal of Denmark. Make them yours too! Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities. You should wear this shirt on your next visit. I know I will.

Dauphine Coat of Arms T-Shirt -The Dauphiné was an autonomous region from 1040 - 1349 before joining France. After the French revolution it was divided into three departments, the modern-day Isère, Drôme and Hautes-Alpes. The 1968 Winter Olympics were held in Grenoble, the capital. The coat of arms features several traditional French fleurs de lis, as well as two dolphins. The area is not coastal, so you may wonder why the dolphins are used. In the 12th century, the local ruler Count Guigues IV of Albon was nicknamed  le Dauphin  (French for  dolphin ) and his coat of arms featured a dolphin. You'll feel terribly continental in this French coat of arms t-shirt.

These intrepid astronauts are having a great time zipping around the moon in their Moon Buggy. This is actually two stamps joined together, so we used our special magic powers to erase the perforation from the center.

Deutschösterreich Eagle T-Shirt - The Republic of German Austria was created following World War I for the German speaking population of what had been the Austro-Hungarian Empire before Hungary became its own entity. In 1919 it became, simply, Austria and attempts to unify with Germany were banned. In its talons, the mighty eagle clutches a hammer and a sickle to signify agriculture and industy. The current coat of arms of Austria features this same image, with the addition of broken chains hanging form the eagle's legs to signify the liberation from National Socialist dictatorship. You'll love your German Austria eagle t-shirt.

Liechtenstein Coat of Arms T-Shirt - Liechtenstein is a tiny little country landlocked in the Alps between Switzerland and Austria. It's only 61.7 square miles and has a population of 35,000. This stamp comes from a series celebrating the  Arms of Triesen Families. Triesen is the third largest municipality in Liechtenstein, with a whopping 4,600 residents. I imagine that if you live in Liechtenstein, you eventually get your very own postage stamp. It's pretty much inevitable. The Die Von Schiel family arms feature a griffin weilding a sword, because an unarmed griffin isn't quite scary enough. The helmet with its own armed griffin on top looks a bit cumbersome, but was probably quite intimidating on the battlefield. You'll love this awesome griffin  coat of arms t-shirt.
