Fight Cancer

You've not been around in this world very long if you haven't had someone close to you die of cancer. In almost every case that I've been personally involved with, it is one of the most demoralizing, agonizing and painful deaths of all the common diseases. Usually, besides giving money to research and moral support to those who are suffering from it, there is very little else we seem to be able to do.

When I ran across this striking image not long ago I knew I had to make a t-shirt of it for myself. It seems to have been the right thing to do because others have asked for one as well, and so we have a new addition to the line. It is a WPA poster from the late '30's, but the dramatic and courageous image will probably be one that touches people for a long time to come - timeless, in other words.
If you would like one for yourself, they are available at a discounted price HERE.

Finlandia -

We've added three new cool and classy Scandinavian t-shirts, all of the Finn persuasion. I didn't realize until I had put them up that they all featured the Finn lion, too. (Oh, the powers of observation.) You don't have to be a Finn to like them but I'm sure if you are you'll really appreciate them. Here's one now:
This one is actually one of the first stamps issued after the Finn's independence from Russia in 1917. The magnanimous gesture of liberation by Lenin was of course all wrapped up in the rhetoric of solidarity and brotherhood, but the Russians well knew that Finland was more than capable of taking advantage of the turmoil of the Revolution and yanking itself free anyway. A war in the north was the last thing the Bolsheviks needed or wanted, particularly given the fierceness of the Finns, who would have easily had their way, so giving them independence was a pragmatic thing to do. They could always be stomped upon later (which they were). Check out the other two new shirts by clicking HERE.

Next Up: Doggie t-shirts! Yay!

You don't happen to enjoy the Finnish beverage known as Finlandia too, do you?
